Land-Based, Environment
This set of choices is based on jobs connected with the care of land, animals and the environment. The different parts of this category are:
- Agriculture is about farming and that simply means growing crops and breeding and raising animals like cows and sheep.
- Horticulture is about growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants and gardens.
- Animal Care includes Veterinary Science and is about feeding and looking after animals as well as treating their illnesses.
- This set of choices also includes Environmental Conservation which is about the protection of natural resources and the environment.
Working in horticulture you would be working in plant nurseries, garden centres, parks and gardens and would be spending time doing things like planting, weeding, cultivating and pruning plants, flowers or vegetables. If you work in a garden centre, you might also make up orders for customers or work on a till.
Animal Care you could find yourself working in an animal shelter, stables, kennels, pet shop or even for a Vet.
